Pink, Flavored Sugar Cookies
For the first time, I tried a variation (that was on the recipe) for my sugar cookies.
You use a package of any flavor jello (I used raspberry cuz it was the only one I had). It worked! Not only did it turn my dough to a dark pink color, but the cookies actually tasted raspberry-ish!
BTW, I took 2 very similar "Soft Sugar Cookie" recipes (that 2 different people recommended) and made my own "Perfect Sugar Cookie" recipe. Enjoy!...
Soft, Perfect Sugar Cookies
1 c butter, softened
2 c sugar
1 c sour cream
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
6 c flour
Cream butter, sugar, sour cream, eggs and vanilla until smooth. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined. Chill in fridge for about an hour. Roll to 1/2" thick on floured surface... (the thicker, the softer; less flour, more flavor.)
Bake at 325 for 8-10 min ('til just barely/almost golden. Do NOT overbake! (Don't underbake either, ew.)
Ang's Various Flavor Variations:
-You can add a couple tsp of lemon or almond extract for a more unique flavor.
-Omit 1/4 c flour and replace with 1 small box of jello- any flavor.
-You could also leave cookies as is and add flavoring to the frosting instead.
Storage Tip:
You can freeze baked, unfrosted cookies in an air-tight container or Ziploc. They will stay fresh for several weeks!
